CHARLOTTE, NC β Even though February is the shortest calendar month in the year, there's been no shortage of news around Charlotte and the Lake Norman region.
Between a coyote attacking a familyβs car and talk of arming teachers with gun following the Florida school shooting, there was some good news like eight North Carolina restaurants making a βmost romanticβ list and Sir Wally Walter, the groundhog, making his annual weather predictions.

Huntersville Familyβs Car Attacked By Coyote Believed To Be Rabid
A family driving in their neighborhood near downtown Huntersville got a fright Saturday night that could be the makings of a Hollywood horror movie or maybe your worst nightmare: a likely rabid coyote bearing bloody teeth circling their vehicle before attacking it. The disease, which attacks the nervous system, is fatal in both animals and humans.

Charlotte Vet Shot In Combat Says Arming Teachers βAsinineβ
As the national debate over school safety and gun restrictions continues in the aftermath of the Feb. 14 school shootings that killed 17 students and teachers in Parkland, Florida, some gun rights enthusiasts are widely advocating hardening schools and protecting classrooms by putting more guns in them. Lawmakers, parents and students have shared their take on whether arming teachers is a deterrent, but one North Carolina military veteran who was wounded twice in Afghanistan calls that "an asinine idea."
