Cyclist Dies Following Collision With Car Sunday
A cyclist who hit a car Sunday afternoon has died, CMPD said Tuesday morning. He was not wearing a helmet.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A bicyclist who hit a car Sunday afternoon on Scott Futrell Drive has died from accident injuries, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. Sonny Locklear, 60, was initially taken to Carolinas Medical Center after he struck the right rear quarter panel of a car driven southeast in the 3600 block of Scott Futrell Drive.
Locklear, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, died May 1 as a result of his injuries.
According to CMPD, speed and alcohol were not contributing factors for the driver of the vehicle in the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
