  1. In an effort to help the community, Bank of America Stadium will be an early voting site. "The stadium will be used again as an early voting site this fall after being approved by the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections to serve as an early voting precinct. The stadium will host 17 days of early voting, from Oct. 20 to Nov. 5. That 17-day span includes a game day, with the Panthers hosting the Buccaneers on Oct. 23. The hosting is a continuation of the organization's efforts to increase participation in the democratic process. ... Having access to the stadium will help alleviate some of the MCBOE's logistical issues," Charlotte FC reports. (Charlotte FC)
  2. "The Carolina Panthers lost to the Arizona Cardinals 26-16 on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium after the offense fell flat once again. For the fourth-straight week now, the Panthers’ offense has struggled to put many points on the board. Four games into the 2022 season, they have yet to score more than 24 points. A big reason for their offensive struggles has been the indifferent play of quarterback Baker Mayfield. His passing statistics have been pedestrian to say the least, with him averaging just 187 yards per game, and has just four passing touchdowns," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
  3. Habitat Charlotte Region is approaching its 40th anniversary and with this milestone comes major news! "The region was selected to host the 2023 Jimmy & Rosalyn Carter Work Project with country music superstars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood. Habitat Charlotte Region hosted the fourth annual Carter Work Project in 1987 in the Optimist Park community. Then-Mayor Harvey Gantt worked alongside the Carters and hundreds of volunteers to build 14 houses in one week. The Meadows at Plato Price, Habitat Charlotte Region’s largest development to date, will be the site of the 2023 Carter Work Project through Oct. 6," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
  4. Queen City has been named among the best U.S. cities for the sport of golf! "Lawn Starter named Charlotte No. 30 in its annual rankings of the best cities for golf in the U.S. Lawn Starter ranked cities based on five categories: public course access, premium course access, training access, course quality and climate. Unsurprisingly, Charlotte scored very well for its premium courses. This includes, of course, Quail Hollow Club, which recently hosted the Presidents Cup and is a regular stop on the PGA Tour," WCNC reports. (WCNC)
  5. Doctors don't want you to skip your flu shot this fall and if you are a senior, they want you to ask for an extra-strength dose. "After flu hit historically low levels during the COVID-19 pandemic, it may be poised for a comeback. The main clue: a nasty flu season just ended in Australia. ... There’s no way to predict if the U.S. will be as hard-hit. ... Annual flu shots are recommended starting with six-month-old babies. Flu is most dangerous for people 65 and older, young children, pregnant women and people with certain health problems including heart and lung diseases," WCCB Charlotte reports. (WCCB Charlotte)
