Driver Killed After Hitting Tree In Early Morning Crash
Charlotte police believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the 1 a.m. accident on Eastway Drive.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A driver is dead after the vehicle they were driving ran off a northeast Charlotte roadway, went airborne and struck a tree. Charlotte police say speed, alcohol, as well as the driver not wearing a seatbelt, were contributing factors in the wreck.
The accident occurred around 1 a.m. May 4 in the 100 block of Eastway Drive. The accident victim, who has not been identified by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, was pronounced dead on the scene.
The victim’s family has been notified, according to CMPD.
