FBI, Police Search For Suspect Wanted In Business Owner Murder

FBI and Charlotte police are offering a $15,000 reward for help finding a man they say murdered Elchin Khalilov last month.

CHARLOTTE, NC — The FBI and Charlotte police have joined forces and are offering a $15,000 rewards as they search for a suspect they say murdered a man in an electronics store during an armed robbery in January.

Business owner Elchin Khalilov was fatally shot Jan. 14 around 11 a.m. during the armed robbery of his store, FixEr Electronics, located in the 3100 block of Sharon Amity Drive in Charlotte. Khalilov was taken to the hospital for treatment, however was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

“The suspect entered the store, pointed a gun at Mr. Khalilov and then shot and killed him even though Mr. Khalilov was being cooperative and not resisting in any way,” CMPD said in a statement.

Officials have released security camera photos of the suspect, who is seen wearing dark pants and a hoodie with the word “LOVE” written in large letters on each sleeve.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 as reward for information leading to an arrest, and the FBI is offering an additional $10,000 reward, CMPD said.
