Firefighters Battle Heat in Southwest Charlotte House Fire
Approximately 27 Charlotte firefighters battle excessive heat due to weather while fighting mid-afternoon house fire on Fawnbrook Lane.

Charlotte Fire Department responded to a reported house fire on the 600 block of Fawnbrook Lane in Southwest Charlotte Monday Afternoon. The fire happened in a single family home at approximately 2:00pm. Charlotte Fire Department Battalion Chief Rob Cannon said "We were able to control this fire in just about 6 minutes. We had a quick response time out here of about 4 minutes which helped us control it quickly." Cannon said firefighters were kept hydrated due to the excessive heat and humidity.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Animal Control responded to the scene due to an animal that was in "harms way" at the time of the fire. Battalion Chief Cannon said "We were able to get them out of the smokey conditions."
The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force is handling the fire investigation and trying to determine what caused the fire. No injuries were reported.
