Forbes: 19 North Carolina Schools Make Top Colleges List

NORTH CAROLINA — New college rankings from Forbes Magazine name 650 schools, including 19 in North Carolina that it says are the best in the country for 2019.

Names like Harvard, Stanford and Yale predictably topped Forbes’ list. The magazine says that whether a school ranks among the top 10 or is closer to the bottom, the institutions “count as the best in the country.” Forbes’ annual rankings looks at colleges that “deliver the top academics, career success and lowest debt.”

Here’s how North Carolina colleges were ranked on Forbes’ list:

• University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, No. 45
• Davidson College, No. 48
• Wake Forest University, No. 56
• Elon University, No, 133
• North Carolina State University Raleigh, No. 139
• Appalachian State University, No. 305
• University of North Carolina, Wilmington, No. 336
• High Point University, No. 428
• East Carolina University, No. 473
• University of North Carolina Charlotte, No. 485
• University of North Carolina, Asheville, No. 494
• Meredith College, No. 520
• Queens University of Charlotte, No. 530
• University of North Carolina, Greensboro, No. 559
• Salem College, No. 605
• Warren Wilson College, No. 632
• Guilford College, No. 643
• Catawba College, No. 650

The top 10 colleges on Forbes’ list are:
