Four Charlotte Area Students Named National Merit Scholars

Four Charlotte area students were named in the third round of selection for National Merit Scholarships, CMS said.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Four Charlotte-area high school students were selected as National Merit Scholarship recipients in the third round of selection, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools announced Wednesday.

The students are from North Mecklenburg High School, South Mecklenburg High School and Myers Park High School, and are among 3,500 students that will receive scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000.

Here’s a list of students, as well as their college and probable career choices:

  • Claire E. Miklaucic of Myers Park High. Claire received a scholarship from the University of Florida in Gainesville. She plans to find a career in healthcare.
  • Liam J. Robinson of Myers Park High. Liam received a scholarship from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He plans to study aerospace engineering.
  • Logan D. Robinson of South Mecklenburg High. Logan has not decided on a career field but has received a scholarship from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.
  • Madison L. Hopkins of North Mecklenburg High. Madison received a scholarship from Emory College in Atlanta and plans to study biology.
