Good News: Charlotte Uber Driver Scores $330K Lottery Win

CHARLOTTE, NC — A Charlotte Uber driver who scored a lucky lottery win this week says he intends to use the money to pay off his car and house and also tuck some money away in savings.

Brian Reece won $330,018 Dec. 17 playing the Cash 5 jackpot after buying the $1 ticket at a Food Lion store in Mint Hill, according to North Carolina Education Lottery. According to lottery officials, the odds of winning the game are one in 962,698.

“It still hasn’t sunk in,” Reece said. “It’s just not an every day occurrence.”

Reece claimed his prize Dec. 18 at lottery headquarters in Raleigh, and after paying state and federal taxes, took home $233,488.

“I’m glad I got it at this point in my life,” he said. “I understand the value of sticking it in the bank and giving myself some security.”
