Gun Death In West Charlotte Marks 73rd Homicide In 2017
There haven't been so many homicides in Charlotte since 2008.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for information on the gunman who shot a man dead on Farmer Street in west Charlotte on Thursday in the city's 73rd homicide of 2017.
Police responded to the 2300 block of Farmer street soon after 3:30 p.m., according to WCNC, on a report of a shooting. Detavious Springs, 24, was found inside an apartment on West Boulevard after a second 911 caller reported him going there.
WSOC reported that Springs was shot in the stomach. He was transported to Carolinas Medical Center where he died during surgery, according WCNC.

Detectives are searching for witnesses in the area. 2017 has been a particularly deadly year in Charlotte when it comes to homicides. Compared to 73 so far this year, 2016 saw 67 homicides, the Charlotte Observer reported, and there were 60 homicides in 2015.
