These luxury hotels are the best in NC for when you're looking for a little pampering, according to US News.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Need a break from the day-to-day grind and just want to be treated like royalty for the night ? You're in luck. U.S. News & World Report has released its rankings of the best hotels across the country and within North Carolina.
The report looked at more than 24,000 luxury hotels to come up with the rankings. Hotels that received a gold badge were in the top 10 percent of ranked hotels. Hawaii’s Four Seasons Resort Lanai ranked first, followed by The Peninsula Chicago at No. 2 and The Langham, Chicago at No. 3.
If those don't fit your fancy, don't fret: There are plenty of great hotels in North Carolina, too, including The Ritz-Carlton in Charlotte.

Here are the best luxury hotels in North Carolina for those looking for a night or two away from the kids.
- The Umstead Hotel and Spa, Cary, NC
- Old Edwards Inn and Spa, Highlands, NC
- The Fearrington House, Pittsboro, NC
- The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte, NC
- Grand Bohemian Hotel, Asheville, NC
- Inn on Biltmore Estate, Asheville, NC
- The Omni Grove Park Inn, Asheville, NC
- The Ballantyne, Charlotte, NC
- O. Henry Hotel, Greensboro, NC
- Sanderling Resort, Duck, NC
If you're looking out-of-state, California and New York had the most gold badge winners with 38 and 26 gold badge hotels, respectively. There were also 24 in Florida.

Among cities, New York City ranked highest in the number of gold badge hotels with 24 — more than double that of Las Vegas and Los Angeles, which tied for second with 11. Washington, D.C. and Chicago had 10 and eight gold badge hotels, respectively.
