Here’s How Much Rain Florence Has Dumped On NC So Far

Swansboro, N.C. recorded more than 30 inches of rain as of Saturday due to Florence. Here are totals from around the state.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Early predictions said Hurricane Florence would dump staggering amounts of rain on the Tar Heel state and they have not been wrong.

By Saturday evening, Florence was moving over South Carolina, with its band of rain spiraling outward over easter North Carolina, producing heavy flooding, the National Weather Service Eastern Region said Saturday. The storm was producing 45 mph winds and creeping west at 2 mph, forecasters said.

More than 30 inches of rain fell Friday on some areas of North Carolina and there's much more to come. Another 25 inches was forecast to fall on the North Carolina coast and into far northeastern South Carolina over the weekend, with up to 15 inches of rain expected in the Charlotte metro region.
