Homicide Ruled Out In Man's Death At North Charlotte Motel

A investigation is underway after a man's body was found in a north Charlotte motel, however police have ruled out homicide.

CHARLOTTE, NC — An investigation is underway after a man's body was found in a room of a north Charlotte motel, however police now say homicide is not suspected in his death.

The Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s finding comes one day after the body of James Timothy Rowland, 57, was discovered in a motel located in the 4900 block of Reagan Drive in Charlotte.

Charlotte Garden Inn Suites is located in that block near Interstate 77.

Police received a 911 call around 10:30 a.m. May 14, and found an unresponsive man in a motel room with “apparent injuries.” He was pronounced dead on the scene by medic, CMPD said.

While the cause of death is unknown, police told Spectrum news that there were signs of a struggle.
