  1. "A homicide investigation is underway in southwest Charlotte after a person was shot and killed Saturday night, according to police. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to an assault with a deadly call just after 10:30 p.m. near a McDonald's at South Boulevard and East Arrowood Road. Officers found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
  2. "A birthday brunch at a northwest Charlotte home turned into a different scene entirely after a pickup truck crashed through the home's garage Saturday afternoon. Medic confirmed first responders were at the home along Wooded Saddle Road off of Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road around 1 p.m. WCNC Charlotte crews who arrived at the scene saw the red Ford F-150 just outside of the home," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
  3. "Teenage defender Caleb Wiley had two goals and an assist in the first half and Atlanta United cruised to a 3-0 victory over Charlotte FC on Saturday. The 18-year-old Wiley, who scored once last year in his rookie season with Atlanta United (2-0-1), found the net in the 5th minute for an early lead. Thiago Almada and Amar Sejdić had assists on the goal, giving Almada a hand in five straight scores dating to last season and eight of the last nine. Almada’s streak ended seven minutes later when Wiley picked up an assist on Luiz Araújo’s first goal of the season. Wiley made it 3-0 at halftime when he scored unassisted in the second minute of stoppage time," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
  4. "In 2022, Loaves and Fishes saw a 38 percent increase in need due to inflation, that coupled with the end of extra SNAP benefits means there will be more families needing their help. Last year — Loaves and Fishes fed more than 100,000 people — at least half of those were children and seniors. This year they expect the need to be even greater," WCCB Charlotte reports.
