🌱 Humane Society Offers Holiday Deals On Pets + Safe Holiday Foods
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Charlotte.
Hey, Charlotte! I'm here in your inbox this morning to get you caught up on everything you need to know about what's going on around town. Today you'll read about:
- The Humane Society of Charlotte has just the deals for you if you're looking to bring home a cat or dog for the holidays.
- Local doctor at Crown Town Animal Hospital green lights foods that dogs can safely eat.
- The most recent proposed addition to the transit network, the LYNX Silver Line, will connect the region along 29 miles in Charlotte's Southeast corridor.
But first, today's weather:
Partly sunny and pleasant. High: 58 Low: 47.
Here are the top four stories in Charlotte today:
- "The Humane Society of Charlotte has just the deals for you if you're looking to bring home a cat or dog for the holidays. The adoption promotions kick off on Friday, Nov. 25. For this Black Friday deal, adopting families will get $50 off for any adult cat or dog that has entirely or mostly black fur. Adult pets are aged 1 year or older. If you're looking for a younger addition to the family, Small Business Saturday on Nov. 26 has a similar $50 off deal, albeit for kittens and puppies under 1 year old. Looking for a more settled-down senior friend? The Humane Society of Charlotte has a special deal for Secondhand Seniors Sunday on Nov. 27," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
- "Ahead of Thanksgiving, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) has announced which offices will be closed for the holiday and has released its operating schedule for Thursday and Friday. For the latest breaking news, weather and traffic alerts, download the WCNC Charlotte mobile app. The CATS Call Center, Lost and Found, Pass Sales and Information Office at the Charlotte Transportation Center will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
- "WCCB called the experts to find out how to keep pets and people safe this holiday. Dr. Jacob Mauck with Crown Town Animal Hospital told us there are some things dogs can safely eat. He recommends only small amounts and no seasoning for the scraps. Food Dr. Mauck gives the green light: unseasoned turkey with no bones or skin, pumpkin puree, plain yams or sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, apples and cranberries. Food Dr. Mauck says dogs should not eat: bones, skin, nuts, grapes/raisins, onions, garlic, chocolate, scallions and chives," WCCB Charlotte reports. (WCCB Charlotte)
- "In an age of climate change, transit is a strategic investment for stronger and more livable communities. Charlotte has pursued a steady vision for regional transit service, marked by local voters' commitment to a transit-dedicated sales tax since 1998 which led to the 2007 opening of the LYNX Blue Line light rail service. The most recent proposed addition to the transit network, the LYNX Silver Line, will connect the region along 29 miles in Charlotte's Southeast corridor," Urban Land reports. (Urban Land)
