Huntersville Doctor Charged In Child-Porn Case Expected To Plead Guilty
Huntersville oncologist Dr. David Shope is expected to plead guilty in federal court to sharing child pornography, according to reports.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC -- Huntersville hematologist-oncologist Dr. David Shope is expected to plead guilty to the charge of sharing explicit child pornography, according to a report.
Shope, 43, who was arrested in 2015 during an undercover sting when he distributed explicit videos and photographs of children under the age of 12 to authorities, is scheduled for a plea hearing in federal court July 13, The Charlotte Observer reported. Court documents show he shared videos with an undercover Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives of children as young as 3-years-old engaged in sexual activity with other children and adults.

At the time of his arrest, Shope was a staff member of Southern Oncology Specialists, the newspaper said.
