HUNTERSVILLE, NC -- The body of a missing Huntersville man has been located in Ramah Creek, two days after Charlotte police found his car crashed in woods off a roadway.

Emile Dave Rowe’s 1999 Mercedes Benz was found early in the morning on August 16 by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers near the 16400 block of Huntersville-Concord Road. CMPD officers determined that Rowe’s car, which was found unattended, drove off the road and struck several trees. CMPD officers returned to the scene to search for Rowe hours later in the daylight with police search dogs but were unable to find him or any other occupants.

The next day, Huntersville Police launched an investigation into Rowe’s disappearance after Rowe's family members sought help finding him. HPD returned to the crash site area for a “systematic and intensive ground search," and found the body of a black male lying in the Ramah Creek basin below the road. Based on identification in the man’s wallet, police determined the man was Emile Dave Rowe.

Preliminary findings suggest that Rowe left his car following the pre-dawn crash Wednesday, and fell over the railing into Ramah Creek while he was walking away from the crash scene.
