- I Am Queen: CHARLOTTE is produced by Epoch Tribe in partnership with Blumenthal Performing Arts as part of the Charlotte International Arts Festival. You may attend the stage performance of this show on Oct. 1. The Black Wall Street Times reports, "The show was originally produced as part of Queen Charlotte Week, a city-wide celebration in March 2022. In preparation of the upcoming show, writer and creator Hannah Hasan understands the assignment well, “every emotion that one has in creating and presenting art, I feel on a daily basis.”... The yin to her yang, show producer Shardae Hasan, echoed those very sentiments, saying, “it’s more high stakes, it’s a testament of the artistry and creativity of Black women. It’s not pressure that I feel, it’s more of the desire to operate in excellence at all times knowing that whether or not we deliver decides a lot for us." (The Black Wall Street Times)
- A K9 sniffed out more than 60 pounds of controlled substances concealed by two men at Charlotte Douglas International Airport coming in from Los Angeles. "Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police K9 Cali was taken to sniff a suitcase lineup and hit on two pink suitcases. Police say they told both men about Cali’s alert and asked to look through the suitcases," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
- Women can now be protected by a new ride-sharing service in Charlotte. "It's called Just Her Ride Share. Kimberly Evans, the founder of Just Her Rideshare, said she started Just Her Ride Share to provide a safe and stress-free alternative for women...To really make the best experience for riders, Evans participated in a customer discovery program at UNC Charlotte.
