Here are the top five stories today in Charlotte:
- "The Charlotte Knights delivered dozens of turkeys to area nonprofits, just in time for Thanksgiving. This is the ninth year that the entire Charlotte Knights family, complete with Homer the Dragon, came together to deliver the turkey and the trimmings to local organizations around Charlotte that are helping those in their time of need. They made about seven stops, including at the Ronald McDonald House, the Salvation Army Center of Hope, Roof Above and more," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
- "This Thanksgiving the 34th annual CPI Security Charlotte Turkey Trot will take place at SouthPark Mall. About 8,000 runners are expected to participate in 8K, 5K, 1 Mile and Tot Trot events. ...This makes the Charlotte North Carolina version of the Turkey Trot the largest community running event in the state," K104.7 reports. - "The latest in automotive technology will be on display at the 2022 Charlotte Auto Show this weekend in Uptown. The Charlotte Auto Fair, which is presented by the Greater Charlotte Automobile Dealers Association, runs from Thursday, Nov. 17 through Sunday, Nov. 20 at the Charlotte Convention Center. The Charlotte Auto Show will give shoppers the perfect environment to compare the latest models before heading to a dealership for a test drive or purchase. Electric vehicles will be on full display as part of the Electric Avenue display," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
- "The City of Charlotte's Arts and Culture Advisory Board on Tuesday awarded more than $264,000 in grants to 16 projects by local artists and groups. The awards come from a portion of the Infusion Fund known as the Opportunity Fund, which supports local arts and culture projects, programs and initiatives that may fall outside existing grant cycles or structures in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area or that need supplemental support. Opportunity Fund grants have been available on a rolling basis through an open call and awarded monthly," City of Charlotte Government reports. (charlottenc.gov)
- "The current site of Charlotte Pipe and Foundry, which sits right in between Uptown and South End, will be on the market by 2023. Speculation has swirled that it could be the new home for Carolina Panthers. CBRE, a national commercial real estate firm, confirmed with WCNC Charlotte it is in the process of finding a buyer for the spot. Many Charlotteans have said they hope the site would be used for a new stadium. They said it would bring in a lot of people and help grow the city overall," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
