Kolter Homes Unveils Decorated Models at Cresswind at Rocky River

From a Brand Partner: New home collection reflects extensive homeowner feedback, evolving active adult preferences

(Kolter Homes)

CHARLOTTE, NC — Kolter Homes, a leader in developing next-generation, highly amenitized, master-planned active adult communities across the Southeast, welcomes prospective homebuyers to tour 10 decorated model homes at Cresswind at Rocky River, a new community in Locust, North Carolina. Slated to open in March, this gated neighborhood marks the developer’s third Charlotte-area active adult community and will include nearly 1,200 homes across 515 acres.

The model park debuts Kolter’s newest collection of floor plans, representing a comprehensive refinement of its active adult product throughout the Southeast. Developed with direct feedback from homeowners in Cresswind communities across the region, the updated designs prioritize functionality, personalization and how today’s buyers live.

Rather than introducing entirely new concepts, Kolter focused on enhancing what works — reconfiguring layouts for improved flow, maximizing usable space and incorporating structural options that support aging in place without compromising design.

“As we continue to expand our footprint in the Carolinas, Cresswind at Rocky River represents a significant step forward in our regional growth strategy,” said Josh Donovan, regional vice president at Kolter Homes. “The opening of the model park signals the momentum we are building here, pairing refined product design with a long-term commitment to delivering thoughtfully planned, amenity-rich communities that meet the needs of today’s active adult buyers.”

The 11 regionally inspired home designs available at Cresswind at Rocky River reflect a deliberate evolution in Kolter’s architectural approach. Each plan is anchored by expansive, light-filled main living areas where kitchens, great rooms and dining spaces are proportioned to feel open without sacrificing definition. Sightlines create a natural flow from the front entry through the heart of the home and outward to covered lanais and optional enclosed patios, reinforcing the connection between indoor and outdoor living.

Floor plans range from 1,500 to more than 2,800 square feet with two to five bedrooms, two to three baths and two- to three-car garages. Select plans offer structural options such as golf cart garages, second-floor bonus rooms, sunrooms and enclosed patios, per homesite and plan.

Located along the Carolina Thread Trail’s Rocky River Blueway, Cresswind at Rocky River places residents near outdoor recreation, where flatwater kayaking and canoeing offer a peaceful escape close to home. A mix of local shopping, dining and entertainment options is easily accessible, with Uptown Charlotte less than 30 minutes away for expanded cultural experiences, nightlife and regional travel connections.

At the center of the community will be Club Cresswind, a resident-exclusive clubhouse designed for connection and wellness. The clubhouse will feature a full-time lifestyle director, a fitness center with free weights and a SmartFIT Training Center powered by EGYM, along with studios for yoga and aerobics, an arts and crafts room with kiln, lounge areas and a social ballroom.

Outdoor amenities will complement the clubhouse, including manicured sidewalks, a resort-style pool with a sundeck and more than 30 pickleball courts.

The decorated models open for VIP tours in mid-March, inviting prospective buyers to experience firsthand the design evolution shaping Kolter’s active adult communities across the Southeast.
