Lidl To Open First Charlotte Location Wednesday

CHARLOTTE, NC — Grocery shoppers in southeast Charlotte will have a new store option available this week. Lidl will open its first Charlotte location Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 9318 Monroe Road.

A ribbon cutting event is scheduled at 7:40 a.m., followed by regular business hours of 8 a.m. through 10 p.m. As part of the grand opening event, the store will be giving away store gift cards, samples, reusable shopping bags and more.

The budget German supermarket chain is considered a direct competitor with Aldi and is credited with launching local grocery price wars wherever it opens its doors, according to Food & Wine, which recently ranked the chain as the No. 3 top grocer in the U.S.

Here’s what Lidl says about it’s Dec. 4 grand opening offerings at the new Monroe Road location:

Customers will be able to take advantage of get-them-while-you-can grand opening special offers at the new Charlotte store. It will include the following:

  • The first 100 customers will be presented with a special gift card ranging from $5 to $100 each.
  • Shoppers can get free samples of an array of Lidl’s products and a complimentary Lidl reusable bag while supplies last.
  • Games, activities, prizes, special deals and giveaways throughout grand opening weekend.
