Little League World Series: North Carolina Team Vies For Title

CHARLOTTE, NC -- After a rousing win over Georgia in the southeast regional tournament, a North Carolina little league baseball team has advanced in the playoffs to play in the 2017 Little League Baseball World Series running Aug. 17.

The 2017 Little League Baseball World Series for players 12 and younger will run Aug. 17-27 in South Williamsport, Penn. when teams from eight countries and eight U.S. regions vie for the title.

North State Little League from Greenville, N.C. won the 2017 Little League Baseball Southeast Regional tournament Aug. 9 with a 4-0 game record after they bested Peachtree City National Little League from Peachtree City, Ga., 8-6.

As the Southeast regional team, North State LL will square off against Midwest regional champs from Sioux Falls, S.D., at Howard J. Lamade Stadium in South Williamsport, Penn. Friday, Aug. 18 at 8 p.m.

Here is the roster of U.S. teams competing:

• Great Lakes: Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores LL. Grosse Pointe, Mich.
• Mid-Atlantic: Holbrook LL. Jackson, N.J.
• Midwest: Sioux Falls LL. Sioux Falls, S.D.
• New England: Fairfield American LL. Fairfield, Conn.
• Northwest: Walla Walla Valley LL. Walla Walla, Wash.
• Southeast: North State LL. Greenville, N.C.
• Southwest: Lufkin LL. Lufkin, Texas
• West: Santa Margarita LL. Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.

• Asia-Pacific: West Seoul Little League. Seoul, Korea
• Australia: Hills Little League. Sydney, Australia
• Canada: White Rock-South Surrey LL. White Rock, British Columbia
• Caribbean: Los Bravos de Pontezuela LL. Santiago, Dominican Republic
• Europe-Africa: Emilia LL. Emilia, Italy
• Japan: Tokyo Kitasuna LL. Tokyo, Japan
• Latin America: Luz-Maracaibo LL. Maracaibo, Venezuela
• Mexico: Guadalupe Trevino Kelly LL. Tamaulipas, Mexico
