Little League World Series: North State Beats West Region in Sunday Game

North Carolina team plays error free game Sunday afternoon and advanced in the Little League Baseball World Series.

After playing another perfect game, the Greenville-based North State Little League team representing the Southeast region has advanced into the next round in the Little League Baseball World Series in South Williamsport, Penn.

North State didn’t make one mistake in the Sunday afternoon game squaring off against the Western region’s California-based Rio Santa Margarita All Stars, racking up 18 hits and bringing in a final score of 16-0.

The perfect game came as no surprise to fans after the North Carolina team advanced in the playoffs after throwing a combined perfect game Friday, defeating the Midwest regional champs from Sioux Falls, S.D., 6-0.

North State is now set to play Southwest team Lufkin Little League from Lufkin, Texas on Aug. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Howard J. Lamade Stadium in South Williamsport. The 2017 Little League Baseball World Series for players 12 and younger will run Aug. 17-27 in South Williamsport, Penn. when teams from eight countries and eight U.S. regions vie for the title.
