"Ebony Woods is no stranger to the pain inflicted by senseless violence. Her baby’s father was killed after being shot during a robbery years ago. ... Instead of turning her pain inward, she looked outward starting an organization to help others going through the same journey she is," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
- "Coyote sightings across the Carolinas are on the rise, including in the Charlotte area. A wildlife consultant says it's because this is the time of year when the animals are on the move. Bill Crowder, a consultant also known as Coyote Bill, said the coyote population has increased and they are being spotted just as much in the daytime as they are at night," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
Patch deal of the day:
Good knives make all the difference in the kitchen, but you don’t need to overpay for them. Seido Japanese knives are made with strong high-carbon stainless steel (high-carbon knives are more durable and usually more expensive) and have an acute 15-degree angle for a noticeably sharper cutting face (most Western-style knives have edge angles of 25 degrees). For a limited time, Patch readers can get a 5-piece Seido Japanese master knife set for 71 percent off. At just under $70, this chef-quality set is perfect for any home cook and would also make a great gift for the holidays.
