- "The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will host a joint women’s recruitment event. According to CMPD, the goal is to highlight the work of women in law enforcement and the need to increase women within CMPD and the FBI as part of National Women’s History Month, which begins March 1. It’s happening Saturday, March 4, from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and Fire Training Academy at 1770 Shopton Rd.," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
- "Charlotte Football Club started its second season this month, along with a new partnership with a local retailer. In collaboration with the team’s new kits, locally owned 704 Shop is selling a collection of merchandise, complementing the new color layout and designs. However, it’s more than just a team-retailer collaboration, as it represents the first time Charlotte FC has licensed its logo to a local retailer, and sales in the new products will help a local school effort," Spectrum News reports. - "A Charlotte nonprofit is making a difference by bridging the gap of learning about the sport of tennis to kids who otherwise wouldn't get a chance to play. Coach William Brown spends his days at the Charlotte Black Tennis Club showing kids a few moves. WCNC Charlotte's Larry Sprinkle caught up with Brown as he and the nonprofit showed over a dozen kids from a local Boys and Girls Club how to play the game," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
- "A North Carolina man admitted to threatening Saucon Valley Middle School last week after learning about the school district’s decision to allow a controversial organization to use the building, officials say. Ceu Uk, 20, was arrested Monday afternoon in Charlotte, North Carolina, according to the Northampton County district attorney’s office," The Morning Call reports. (The Morning Call)
- "These days, technology is used for just about everything. Many people likely have several old devices laying around the house while others don’t have any access to computers. A Charlotte non-profit is working to change that by taking old computers, refurbishing them, and donating them to groups that need the technology most," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
- "A group of North Carolina lawmakers is working to stop hair discrimination with a new bill that would make it illegal. The CROWN Act was first introduced in the North Carolina House on Feb. 16 and it now heads to the state Senate. This comes as research shows more than 20% of Black women ages 25 to 34 have been sent home because of their hair. That's compared to white women with either curly or straight hairstyles and Black women with straightened hair," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
