  1. "A Charlotte polling location was temporarily evacuated after officials say a fire broke out.
    Election officials told WBTV five people were in the process of voting at Good Shepherd Church when a ‘momentary fire’ broke out. The voters remained on site and were able to finish casting their ballots," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
  2. "Someone in NC won $1 million in record-breaking Powerball drawing. It took a bit longer than lottery officials wanted, but the winning numbers for the record $2 billion Powerball drawing were released Tuesday morning. … That wasn't the only big win, though, as 22 others matched all five white balls for $1 million. Those winners included ticket holders in North Carolina and South Carolina," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
  3. "Andrew Winke is a local Charlotte artist hoping to help businesses alongside part of Central Avenue see a piece of their home and feel more connected to the community. He is one of several artists who has joined CharlotteEast's Central Avenue beautification project to improve litter control and develop business and residential collaboration. As part of this initiative, Andrew and his girlfriend have been diligently painting a trash can with 72 flags, highlighting different regions represented by businesses in the area. ... Artists' designs, like Andrews, are helping CharlotteEast merge Central Avenue businesses with Eastside communities," City of Charlotte Government reports. (charlottenc.gov)
  4. "Carvent Webb of Charlotte tried his luck on a $30 scratch-off and won a $3 million prize. Webb bought his lucky Fabulous Fortune ticket from the 7-Eleven on Mallard Creek Road. When Webb arrived at lottery headquarters Monday to collect his prize, he had a decision to make: He could choose to receive the prize as an annuity of $150,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $1.8 million," WBTV reports.   5. "A driver died after crashing in South Charlotte. The crash happened around 11:17 a.m. in the 14100 block of Johnston Road. Police say they found Ernest Walter, 78, unresponsive behind the wheel of his Jeep Cherokee. MEDIC transported him to Atrium Pineville where he was pronounced dead. Investigators believe Walter veered off the side of the road and struck several trees before overturning," WCCB Charlotte reports. (WCCB Charlotte)
