Here are the top four stories today in Charlotte:
- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and CMS Police are investigating a senior prank gone bad on the campus of Myers Park High School last week. Officials walked into a messy scene with graffiti on school buildings, broken items and food items smeared on surfaces. According to a student, teachers had to wipe off the doors with a mop because the seniors involved in this prank egged every building leaving a stench. CMS officials consider this to not be a senior prank — it is vandalism that is punishable by the Code of Student Conduct and by law. (WBTV)
- Tom Osiecki, a homeowner who lives in Charlotte, reached out to the news media after he said that he felt unheard and not helped by the new builder in the neighborhood. Osiecki said the problem is stormwater running off from the drop spouts of new homes drop spouts and through his and his neighbor's property. This also impacts the lake. When Osiecki bought the house on Lake Mist, stormwater runoff was not an issue. (WCNC.com)
- Summer camps for youth are filling up quickly. Nearly 100 summer camps in Charlotte offer full and half-day camps that last either for the whole summer or only a few weeks. According to camp coordinators, there is a "mad dash to get your child signed up for a summer camp" so don't wait until it's too late to act. (WCNC.com)
- Natalia Suero, a 29-year-old mother, was arrested in New York for drowning her son in south Charlotte. The investigation started when an officer was approached by a woman on March 12 at Park Road Park. She told the officer that her child was unresponsive in the pond. The officer located three-year-old Jonathan Suero and performed CPR until a medic arrived. The child was pronounced dead at Atrium Main. (WCCB Charlotte)
