ICYMI: Lowe's Adding 1,600 Jobs, New Tech Center In Charlotte

Lowe's is adding more than 1,600 new tech jobs with an average salary of $118,000. Here's how to apply.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Lowe’s is building a new 23-story global technology hub in Charlotte’s South End in a move that will also bring nearly 2,000 new tech jobs to the Queen City, the Mooresville-based home improvement giant announced this week.

The 1,600 new technology jobs will average a salary of $118,000 a year, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said in a press conference Thursday.

The company will soon break ground on the new 23-story building will be called the “Design Center Tower,” and is projected to be completed in late 2021, Lowe’s CEO Marvin Ellison said while making the announcement June 27. When it’s completed, Lowe’s will occupy 15 of the floors.

“This new technology center is going to help us transform our company to a true technology company,” Ellison said. “It will also serve as an epicenter for us to attract tech professionals and help us to modernize our company.”

Lowe's said it will immediately begin the hiring process for 400 new tech jobs that it says will eb filled in the next year. Information about applying for those jobs may be found here.

Lowe’s employees more than 300,000 employees, a tenth of whom are in North Carolina, he said.
