Lyft Discounting Rides To Polls For New NC 9th District Primary
Republican voters in NC's 9th Congressional District return to the polls May 14. Lyft is offering discounted rides to the polls.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Tuesday, May 14 is Election Day — again — for North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District. Months after the revelation of an election fraud scheme prompted state election officials to throw out results of the November 2018 general election for the U.S. House seat, Republican voters will return to the voting booth to pick a GOP challenger for Democrat Dan McCready. But if you don't have transportation, don't despair: Rideshare company Lyft is offering discounted rides to the polls.
A general election for the seat is set for Sept. 10.
Lyft said it's offering 50 percent off rides to polls across North Carolina’s 9th District Tuesday in the counties of Anson, Union, Richmond, Scotland, Robeson and southeast Mecklenburg. The promo code is VOTENCD9PRIMARY.

“Lyft has always been dedicated to helping North Carolinians enjoy frictionless living through transportation,” said Lyft’s Charlotte Market Manager Lauren Pelletier. “With this offer, we hope to help remedy the transportation challenges that many North Carolinians face, and make it just a bit easier for them to exercise their constitutional right to vote.”
For those new to Lyft, first-time riders can download the Lyft app, available on iOS and Android, and follow the prompts to set up an account, Lyft said.
