CHARLOTTE, NC -- Charlotte police have arrested a man they say sexually assaulted patients at two area nursing homes. One of the victims told police she was asleep and woke up with the suspect -- identified by CMPD as Alphonzo Dawkins -- in bed with her.
The first of the two reported incidents occurred Aug. 31 when police were called to the Charlotte Health and Rehab Center in the 1700 block of Toddville Road around midnight. A witness was able to give CMPD officers a description of an unknown man who was found in a victim’s room and said he was a family member.
Hours later, at 2:40 a.m., a similar assault was reported at Brian Center Health and Rehab located in the 5900 block of Redmann Road. The victim told police she woke up to find the suspect in bed with her. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest news in Charlotte — or other neighborhoods.
