16-Year-Old Killed In Early Morning Crash On John Belk Freeway

Police have identified William James Blottman, 16, as the driver who died in a single-car crash early Wednesday morning.

UPDATE: Charlotte police have identified 16-year-old William James Blottman as the driver killed in an early morning single-car accident on John Belk Freeway.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Police are investigating a single car crash fatality that occurred in the early morning hours of April 26 on a Charlotte freeway, they said Wednesday. At around 2 a.m., a speeding 2005 Toyota Avalon driven by an unidentified white male east on John Belk Freeway lost control and hit a bridge support for the East 7th Street Bridge.

The driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was the only occupant in the car. He was not wearing a seatbelt, authorities say.
