Man Shot After Drug Deal Turns Into Armed Robbery
A Charlotte man is stable after being shot in what CMPD says was a drug deal that turned into an armed robbery Thursday.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- One man is in the hospital recovering from gunshot wounds, and another behind bars after what Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police describe was a drug deal that went bad Thursday afternoon in north Charlotte.
Police responded midday around 12:30 p.m. Aug. 31 to the 1300 block of Bonnie Lane after they received a call for an assault with a deadly weapon. An adult man had been shot, and he was taken to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.
Investigators determined the victim was shot during a prearranged drug buy at the home with two suspects who robbed the victim of cash and a handgun. One of the suspects shot the victim, then the pair fled the scene in a grey Nissan Altima, CMPD said.

While on the scene, detectives made observations that led them to return to the Bonnie Lane home Thursday evening with a search warrant. There they found 4.5 pounds of marijuana, three rifles, two shotguns and two handguns that were later determined to be BB guns. Blaise Bennett, 20, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
