Man Shot & Killed Following Rush Hour Shooting
Alonzo Cedric Parker, 33 was shot and killed Thursday afternoon outside a busy South Charlotte business on Sharon Lakes Road.
A quiet Thursday afternoon turned deadly with yellow crime scene tape surrounding a South Charlotte business district. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Steele Creek Division officers responded to an assault with deadly weapon call at 4:41 p.m., at 7100 Sharon Lakes Road. Upon arrival, officers located one male with an apparent gunshot wound outside of a business complex on near a red Ford SUV. Officers immediately began to render aid to the victim according to CMPD Major Allan Rutledge. Even with the life saving efforts of police and paramedics, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department confirmed early Friday morning that 33 year old Alonzo Cedric Parker was the victim shot following the rush hour altercation.
Crime scene tape covered a large area around Sharon Lakes Road off South Boulevard following the shooting. Dozens of detectives and Crime Scene Investigation technicians canvased a large crime scene for any clues or evidence that would lead them to a motive. Witness could be seen being escorted from the scene and being questioned by homicide detectives.

"The fact that this occurs during rush hour, 4:40 in the afternoon is certainly concerning to us" CMPD Maj. Allan Rutledge said. Police confirm an altercation that occurred in the parking lot and boiled out onto the street. Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene and are currently canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident.
"The seriousness and the danger of people shooting at one another without due regard for anyone else around. People need to resolve their disputes in ways other than gunfire."

Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene and canvased the area to determine whether there were any additional witnesses to the shooting. Police say they are still searching for a suspect in this shooting. No arrests have been made.
