Man Unwraps Life-Sized Gratitude In Viral Holiday Video

This video message of gratitude has gone viral and is still going strong almost a year later. What are you most grateful for this year?

CHARLOTTE, NC --Imagine facing a new day with the joy of unwrapping yourself from sleep, then freeing your spouse from a festive cocoon of holiday wrapping paper, right before you discover-- with glee -- that you have electricity and running water in the bathroom. Every point along the way, all of the things that most of us take for granted -- food on the table, a roof over our heads, even coffee in a favorite mug -- is festooned with tinsel.

It’s a powerful message as we wrap up a year marked by sweeping natural disasters that have upended communities from Texas to the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico, where about 70 percent of the island is still without power almost two months after the island was slammed by Hurricane Maria Sept. 20.

“This Christmas, may you be grateful for all the gifts around you!” says the video, produced by Forest Hill church in Charlotte. The video, which was produced by the church in December 2016, quickly went viral, racking up more than 4 million views last holiday season. It’s still going strong, and today has almost 5.5 million views.
