Memorial Day 2018: What's Open, Closed In Mecklenburg County

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Memorial Day 2018 will be celebrated Monday, May 28. While most schools, banks and government offices will be closed in observance of the holiday, many businesses and some services will be operational as usual.

Here is a list of area closures you can expect that day:

Mecklenburg County government offices and agencies — closed on Monday, May 28.

Department of Social Services — closed on Monday, May 28

The Department of Social Services hotlines operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive reports of suspected abuse or neglect. To report abuse of seniors or the disabled, call 704-336-CARE (2273). To report abuse, neglect or human trafficking of children, call 980-31-HELPS (43577).

Mecklenburg County Tax Office — closed on Monday, May 28.

Mecklenburg County Elections Office — closed on Monday, May 28.

Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds Office — closed on Monday, May 28.

Mecklenburg County Land Use and Environmental Services Agency offices — closed on Monday, May 28.

Mecklenburg County Health Department — closed on Monday, May 28.

The Main Library and all library branches — closed on Monday, May 28.

Mecklenburg County’s Solid Waste administrative offices facilities and Solid Waste facilities will be closed on Monday, May 28. The exception is Compost Central which will operate from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Park and Recreation administrative offices — closed on Monday, May 28, 2018. Recreation and Senior Centers will also be closed. Nature Centers will be open.

All Mecklenburg County Aquatic facilities will operate on holiday schedules. (Please check with the facility for specific hours). Ray’s Splash Planet is still closed for renovations.

Spraygrounds open Friday, May 25 and outdoor pools and Ramsey Creek Beach open Saturday, May 26.

As a reminder, CharMeck 311 is open and available to the public Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
