🌱 Monkeypox Vaccine Given At Charlotte Pride + NC Drive-Ins Best

Here are the top five stories in Charlotte today:
- People who attend the Charlotte Pride events this weekend will be able to get the vaccine for monkeypox. According to WBTV, "Mecklenburg County Public Health will be administering monkeypox vaccines this weekend at Charlotte Pride events, thanks to a program from the White House and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). ... Federal partners worked with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) and Mecklenburg County Public Health to develop a plan to administer the vaccines during the events in Charlotte." - The United States Postal Service (USPS) offers Informed Delivery. According to WCNC, "Once a customer's account is validated, the USPS sends a notification to an app or an email when a piece of mail or a package is set to arrive. ... It's a handy feature to keep track of incoming mail, but what if that package or letter isn't at your house when you go check? That's an issue faced by Penney Lendzian in east Charlotte. She moved into a new development in December 2021 and has had her share of postage problems." (WCNC.com)
- A nonprofit group that serves young adults, The Relatives, now has a new space in Uptown Charlotte because it moved its On Ramp Resources Center into a new space on Freedom Drive. According to Spectrum News, "organization leaders say [the space] is three times the size of its old space in Uptown. The resource center provides programming to serve young adults ages 16 to 24. The youth get access to counseling, GED tutoring, employment readiness and more. The new building has a kitchen, which is something the old building didn't have. With this new feature, the organization is partnering with the Community Culinary School of Charlotte (CCSC) to provide culinary classes." (Spectrum News)
- If you're a fan of drive-in restaurants then you're going to be happy to know that North Carolina has one of the best! According to Kiss 95.1 FM, "while many of these businesses have closed in recent years, some are still left across the country. ... Charlotte, North Carolina has one of the best drive-in restaurants in the US. This list was compiled by Cheapism. It featured 30 drive-in restaurants across the country that are still going strong." - According to WCCB Charlotte, "detectives say a man was pronounced dead Wednesday morning after colliding into the rear of a CATS bus on South Tryon Street." Officers rushed to the area of South Tryon Street because someone called about a motor vehicle collision. WCCB Charlotte reported, "at the scene, officers located a green 2001 Dodge Dakota with heavy front-end damage and Charlotte Area Transit System bus No. 2128 in the roadway with rear-end damage. Police say the driver of the Dodge, Robert Compton, 37, sustained serious injuries and was not wearing a seatbelt."(WCCB Charlotte)
