A mother was caught on video at Levine's Children's Hospital Sunday night trying to smother her infant son in a hospital bed with a pillow.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- A mother was caught trying to smother her one-year-old son while he was lying in a hospital bed at Levine’s Children’s Hospital Sunday, according to Charlotte police.
Maggie Dixon, 32, was arrested and charged with attempted murder after hospital staff told police she had been alone with the child in his hospital room when monitors signaled abnormalities in his vital signs and fluctuations in his breathing patterns. When hospitals responded to check on him, Dixon was seen on video surveillance attempting to suffocate him, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said in a statement Monday.
Dixon has been charged with one count of attempted 1st degree murder and one count of felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.
