  1. Charlotte Firefighters recently performed a high-angle rescue "in the 12000 block of Bluestem Lane near the North Carolina-South Carolina border just west of Johnston Road. According to Charlotte Fire, one person was stuck in a bucket truck. As of 3:45 p.m. the person was successfully rescued. It is unknown at this time how the person got stuck in the bucket truck," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
  2. Filmmakers are coming to the Charlotte area to produce two feature films thanks to approval from the North Carolina Department of Commerce. An independent feature film called "Mother Couch! started filming this week in the area after it was "approved for a rebate up to $1.75 million. The Department of Commerce estimates that these projects combined will generate direct in-state spending of about $30 million and create more than 1,500 jobs," WGHP FOX8 Greensboro reports.   3. Charlotte police arrested three people who were part of a string of car break-ins dating back to June. "Officers say they were called to Spindletop Place just before 3 a.m. for three people breaking into cars. Nazir Lucky, Ezyaah Ward and Adalberto De La Cruz were found at the scene in a white Honda HR-V that was reported stolen in June," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
  4. "Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools surprised Danielle Belton, the Paw Creek Elementary School principal, with being named the 2022-2023 CMS principal of the year. Many students, staff and even the CMS interim superintendent came out to honor Belton on Friday morning. ... Belton has been with CMS for nine years, and since then, she has built trust and formed relationships within the community," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
  5. "The North Carolina Music Hall of Fame honored some of North Carolina’s own Thursday night in Kannapolis. Banjo player and singer, Charlie Poole who was born in Statesville was honored for his recordings that sold over 100,000 copies. Nneena Freelon is the award-winning jazz singer. She was a favorite of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. Co-founding member of Chic, Bernard Edwards, was also honored. He was born in Greenville and went on to make a mark in the music industry. Janet Paschal grew up in Reidsville before embarking on her gospel music career. R&B legend, Stephanie Mills who was born in New York but makes her home in Charlotte was also inducted," WCCB Charlotte reports (WCCB Charlotte)
