National Merit’s College-Sponsored Scholarship Winners Announced

CHARLOTTE, NC -- The National Merit Scholarship Corporation named 35 North Carolina high school students as College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship winners Wednesday morning. Almost a fourth of the students on the list announced June 7 were from the Queen City region. Nine students on the list are from the Charlotte area and one is from Davidson.

The awards represent scholarships between $500 to $2,000 a year, that will be given for up to four years of undergraduate studies. The awards are underwritten by public and private higher education institutions.

The scholarships announced June 7 represent the third round of National Merit Scholarships announced in 2017. A fourth round will be announced July 17, representing a total of $32 million in scholarships awarded to about 7,500 students.
