NC Man Adds Levity To Election Day… With His Pet Donkey
When Ronald Hines saw how quiet his local polling station was, he decided to liven it up with the help of his donkey, Ellie May.

WINTERVILLE, NC — It’s fair to say that Election Day was one of drama in the Tar Heel State and one that continues to give tension around the country, with several races down to nail biting results. One Pitt County man, however, brought a bit of much needed humor to his local polling station Tuesday in Winterville, just south of Greenville, according to a local report.
He brought his donkey, Ellie May, reported the Daily Reflector. Around her neck was a sign: “I brought my ass to vote!”
Ronald Hines told the news outlet he brought Ellie May on a dare from his brother.

“The main thing is to give people something to see or do around here,” Hines told the Daily Reflector. “You know it’s kinda quiet out here, and they see this donkey here and they’ll say, ‘Well it was worth coming out here and voting.’ So they’ve enjoyed it, and we’ve enjoyed it and we’re hoping next election we can bring another one out here to break up the boredom.”
