- "The second annual Maud 2.23 kicked off Sunday at Noda Brewing. Together We Stand NC is hosting a weeklong series of runs in the Charlotte area until Saturday, Feb. 26. The event is to honor the memory of Ahmaud Arbery, a black man who was killed on Feb. 23, 2020, while out on a run in Georgia. Event organizer Tyrone Irby said he also wants to have a conversation about race," WCNC reports. (WCNC)
- "NC Quick Pass will be offline today beginning at 5 p.m. as a new website and system launches, the North Carolina Department of Transportation said. The sites ncquickpass.com and myncquickpass.com will be unavailable until Friday, Feb. 24 to allow for the upgrade to take place. During the outage, customers will not be able to make payments, sign up for a NC Quick Pass account, manage their account or perform any other actions on our existing website, phone system or at the customer service centers," WCNC reports. - "Gateway Classic Cars of Charlotte will host its Grand Opening on Saturday, March 25 from 9am-1pm. The evening before, Friday, March 24, the Cabarrus County Chamber of Commerce will be holding its ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:00pm. Come out and celebrate the next chapter in the company's 24-year history with Gateway Classic Cars and local motorsports legends. The Grand Opening is open to the public and has no admission or registration fee. Attendees are encouraged to cruise in with all makes and models and bring their appetite. The first 100 guests will receive a free Gateway Classic Cars t-shirt," Benzinga reports. (Benzinga)
- "Gunfire erupted in uptown Charlotte overnight, leaving one person injured, officials said. According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, this all started around 2:20 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of East 6th and North Caldwell streets. That is close to the Spectrum Center, right across from the Brooklyn Lounge and directly in front of 321 Bar and Lounge," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
- "For the first time since 2019, the Charlotte Knights expect to host a full slate of college baseball games at Truist Field. On Wednesday, head coaches from Davidson College, Queens University and UNC Charlotte were at the ballpark to discuss upcoming games. The Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. Since 2015, a year after Truist Field opened, the ballpark has regularly hosted college baseball games in early spring," WSOC-TV reports. (WSOC-TV)
