CHARLOTTE, NC β€” New, ultra-fast electric vehicle charging stations are headed to North Carolina. Electrify America is expanding its nationwide network of charging stations by adding 11 new stations throughout the Tar Heel state by July, the company said Monday.

β€œDepending on the location, Electrify America’s charger stations can have a range in power from 50 kilowatts (kW) – the most commonly used charging power today – to 150 kW and up to 350kW, which is capable of charging a vehicle at speeds up to 20 miles per minute,” the company said.

The added charging stations in North Carolina are a part of Electrify America’s plan to install, or have under construction, 484 charging stations with more than 2,000 DC fast chargers by the summer of 2019, the company said. The station will be located in 17 metros and along high-traffic corridors in 42 states – including two cross-country routes.
