Restaurant Owner Fatally Shot While Opening NoDa Business

Scott Allen Brooks was shot and killed while opening Brooks Sandwich House early Monday morning, according to a report.

CHARLOTTE, NC — A murder investigation is underway in NoDa after an owner of Brooks Sandwich House was shot and killed in a predawn attack while they were opening the restaurant, according to reports.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Scott Allen Brooks, 61, was shot shortly before 5 a.m. Dec. 9 at the popular restaurant located in the 2700 block of North Brevard Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“CMPD confirmed the victim of the shooting at Brooks Sandwich House is an employee,” WCNC reported “According to police, the employee was opening the store, confronted by an unknown person and was shot and killed. No known motive. No arrests have been made.”

The victim's name has not yet been released by police.

CMPD said the investigation into the case is active and ongoing and asks that anyone with information about this incident call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a homicide unit detective or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Information leading to an arrest could result in a reward of up to $5,000.
