Old Farmer’s Almanac Releases Winter 2019 Prediction For NC

Here's what winter has in store for North Carolina, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac.

If you hate snow and cold wintry weather, then you are in luck this year, according to the folks at the Old Farmer’s Almanac. The publication has released its long-range prediction for winter 2019 and says it’s likely going to be warm and dry in the piedmont of the Carolinas.

The Old Farmer's Almanac, the iconic publication that's been serving up weather predictions since 1792, says that this winter will be one of above-normal temperatures throughout the country. According to the publication, it's going to be warm and dry in our region, as well as in parts of the Midwest. Portions of the Great Lakes region, as well as the Northeast will likely have a warm and wet winter.

What’s the weather going to be like before winter sets in? According to the folks at Farmers’ Almanac, which has been in the weather prediction business since 1818, autumn in the Southeast is going to be wet.

AUGUST 2018

  • 20th-23rd: Thunderstorms an ongoing threat; storms for Mid-Atlantic States and then clearing.
  • 24th-27th: Widespread thunderstorm activity continues.
  • 28th-31st: Fair, pleasant for Mississippi Valley, points east.

SEPTEMBER 2018

  • 1st-3rd: Scattered showers may dampen holiday plans, then turning fair.
  • 4th-7th: Generally fair, very warm, humid.
  • 8th-11th: Thundery conditions.
  • 12th-15th: Showery rains spread to the North, East.
  • 16th-19th: Thunderstorms along Gulf Coast. Rain for Tennessee, points east, then fair.
  • 20th-23rd: Hot, oppressively humid.
  • 24th-27th: Fair, turning much cooler for Mississippi Valley, points east.
  • 28th-30th: Widespread showers for most of the Southeast. Showery weather for Mid-Atlantic States.

OCTOBER 2018

  • 1st-3rd: Fair/cold; frosts invade parts of the Southeast.
  • 4th-7th: Wet Tennessee Valley; Heavy rains Gulf States.
  • 8th-11th: Another round of frosty weather as it turns fair, colder.
  • 12th-15th: Showery, then fair/blustery weather.
  • 16th-19th: A pleasant spell of early fall weather.
