  1. "The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department announced that they conducted a large ‘Street Takeover’ operation that resulted in multiple stops, charges and arrests. Police say the operation targeted suspects involved in racing and other reckless driving acts around Charlotte. On Nov. 18 and 19, officers made 27 stops and cited 32 violations. They arrested three, charged eight, seized three firearms, two vehicles, $579 and 517.5 grams of marijuana. Two suspects were charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession with intent to distribute and felony fleeing to elude," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
  2. "The University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s School of Architecture is to be renamed the David R. Ravin School of Architecture following a donation from the school’s alumnus David Ravin. The donation, whose amount has not been disclosed, will be used to support students, pay for international studies, and finance university initiatives. Ravin graduated from the school in 1994 with a BA in Architecture before attending the University of Michigan and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Today, he is the president and CEO of Northwood Ravin, a development, construction and property management firm,"Archinect reports. (Archinect)
  3. "Shopping online has many perks. It's convenient, it's quick and it makes comparison shopping a breeze, but did you know you might be paying more for a product based on your location? According to the personal finance website, The Penny Hoarder, some online retailers vary prices depending on your location when you're shopping online and what time you're doing the shopping. To make sure you're not getting price gouged, experts suggest you go undercover by using your web browser's private mode whenever you shop," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
  4. "Charlotte city leaders are expected to vote Monday on funding allocations they hope will increase the development of affordable housing. On Monday evening, the Charlotte City Council is scheduled to vote on $9,200,000 in funding for several affordable housing projects. The money would come from the Housing Trust Fund. The fund was created more than two decades ago and is used for the building or improvement of affordable housing units. Earlier this month voters passed a $50 million bond vote to help build more affordable housing units in the city. The National Low Income Housing Coalition identified the Charlotte region as lacking over 45,000 units for extremely low-income renters," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
  5. Yesterday was Cyber Monday. "In 2021, Cyber Monday sales reached a record-breaking $10.7 billion. Online sales on Black Friday this year also set a record, reaching $9 billion. Economists are taking a hard look at this year’s number to help measure the impact of inflation. According to experts, laptops, televisions and cosmetics are the top products to focus on," WCCB Charlotte reports. (WCCB Charlotte)
