- "With each club only securing one win in their previous four games and two NHL-caliber netminders in goal, Saturday’s matchup between the Cleveland Monsters and Charlotte Checkers had all the makings of a hard-fought redemption story. Unfortunately for Cleveland, this game ended with an embarrassing new franchise-tying mark for most goals given up in a game. The Monsters lost by a wide margin, 9-0, to the hosting Checkers," Field Pass Hockey reports. (Field Pass Hockey)
- "The Carolina Panthers completed an interview with Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey on Saturday for the team's head coaching position. The interview was conducted virtually since the Bills have a playoff game on Sunday in Buffalo. Dorsey is the sixth person to interview for the position, joining interim coach Steve Wilks, Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, interim coach Steve Wilks and former NFL coaches Frank Reich and Jim Caldwell. Dorsey, a former national champion quarterback at the University of Miami, has been on the Buffalo's staff for four seasons and was elevated to offensive coordinator ahead of the 2022 campaign," WCNC reports. - "During the Christmas weekend when subfreezing temperatures swept North Carolina, the Charlotte Fire Department responded to 1,933 incidents — a quarter of them due to water issues. At least one of those calls came from The Village at Brierfield Apartment Homes. ... Morgan Properties, which owns The Village at Brierfield, said in an email that 27 tenants were affected by the burst pipe and four were displaced," Spectrum News reports. (Spectrum News)
- "Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a homicide in an east Charlotte neighborhood after a juvenile was shot and killed. The homicide occurred in a residential neighborhood at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday in the 7400 block of William Reynolds Drive. Police say a male juvenile was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. One person is in custody. No other suspects are being searched for at this time," WBTV reports. (WBTV)
- "City leaders in East Charlotte are setting their priorities for the community for the next year. Two Charlotte City Council members, a County Commissioner and the CMS Board Vice Chair met with about 100 Eastside residents on Saturday for a town hall. People who live in the area got to tell city leaders about their concerns and changes they want to see in their community," WCCB Charlotte reports. (WCCB Charlotte)
