  1. The popular show ‘Pawn Stars’ is looking for extras in North Carolina. "Fans of the History Channel show have the chance to get in on the fun this weekend in Winston-Salem. That’s when the Pawn Stars crew will make a stop in North Carolina. The show will be filming Oct. 15-17 in Winston-Salem, according to the casting company Standing Room Only. And it gets even better, you could get paid to be a part of it. Standing Room Only will pay participants $100 for their time," K104.7 reports. (K104.7)
  2. "Developers released more updates on the Brooklyn Village redevelopment project. The project was approved back in July 2018, and as developers continue to wrap up phase one some commissioners say they have some concerns. ... The project is four years underway and was delayed about two years, but developers say they estimated the total build-out for all phases to take about 12 years," WCNC reports. (WCNC.com)
  3. "Multiple cities in North Carolina have been named the best places to drive in the United States. According to a new report this week from WalletHub, three NC cities were ranked in the top five places to drive based on driver behaviors and local infrastructure. The report says Raleigh is the best place in the country to drive in. Greensboro came in at number four, and Winston-Salem was right behind at number five.   4. One person is dead after a shooting at Pilot in Charlotte and a truck driver suffered major injuries. "The shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. on October 3 at a Pilot store located off I-85 in north Charlotte. When the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrived at the scene, they found two gunshot victims at the store who were reportedly shot in the wake of an argument," CDLLife reports. (CDLLife)
  5. Todd Anthony, a Marine who suffered from Parkinson’s disease, died in a house fire on Eastbrook Road in Charlotte Monday night because he was confined to a wheelchair. "His brothers say he died at the top of the stairs because he couldn’t walk. Charlotte Fire responded to the home just before midnight on Monday. Firefighters say eight people were inside the home at the time. Three of them were taken to the hospital including Todd Anthony’s nephew, who tried to save him but was overcome with smoke," WCCB Charlotte reports. (WCCB Charlotte)
