Person Killed After Pineville Shooting
Pineville Police Department is investigating a homicide on Pine Acres Ave in Pineville Wednesday night.

Pineville Police Department is investigating a homicide on Pine Acres Ave that was reported shortly after 7pm Wednesday night. According to Pineville Police, they received a 911 call in regards to a shooting at the Pines @ Carolina Place Apartment Homes. According to Pineville Police Department Lt. Corey Copley, they know who the suspect is and they have a person is custody.
"We believe homicide victim and the suspect are acquaintances. This doesn't appear at the time to be a random act of violence" Pineville Police Department Lt. Corey Copley told reporters Wednesday night. Investigators say many people heard gunshots and saw what happened which initiated the 911 call.

Sources say the male victim is believed to be in his early teens, late twenties. Pineville Police say they were able to locate the suspect after he showed up at a local hospital emergency room to receive treatment of a possible self inflicted gunshot wound.
Lt. Corey Copley say "It is a very rare occurrence for Pineville to have a homicide." "We are going to put our best foot forward, utilize the resources we have at hand and investigate this."
