Police Charge Pair In String Of Charlotte Auto Thefts
The two men stand accused of stealing an SUV, a gun, as well as a string of larcenies from vehicles in the Charlotte area, police say.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte police have charged two men for a string of auto related thefts, from breaking into cars to stealing a gun and an SUV.
The larceny spree began in the early morning hours of Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2017, when a GMC Envoy was stolen from the 13100 block of Reunion Street in southwest Charlotte. Inside the stolen vehicle, say police, was a firearm and sports memorabilia. Later that day, the vehicle was recovered after it was found parked in the road on Maribel Avenue. The stolen gun, however, was missing.
Shortly after New Years, on Jan. 5, a community member called 911 after seeing subjects pull up on door handles of vehicles parked in the 500 block of N. Graham Street. Officers responded to the area and found Malik Carter, 20, along with two others. In their vehicle was the stolen gun from Reunion Street.
