Police Checkpoint Busts 11 For DWI Thursday

A police checkpoint in south Charlotte Thursday night led to 35 charges, including 11 for DWI.

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Police cracked down on traffic safety violations in south Charlotte Thursday night with a safety checkpoint that netted 35 violations ranging from driving without a license to driving while intoxicated.

Officers from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department manned the checkpoint in the 800 block of Tyvola Road from 11 p.m. until 3 a.m.

Here is a list of the types of charges CMPD issued during the Nov. 16 operation:
  • Driving While Intoxicated: 11
  • No Operator License: 17
  • Driving While License Revoked: 3
  • Registration: 1
  • Drug: 2
  • Other: 1
